Theatre Ingolstadt

Poster-Design for the play “Blackbird” at Theatre Ingolstadt…
Theatre poster as stage for art. Art as stage for theatre.
It is the fourth season, that xhoch4 designs posters for the Ingolstadt Theatre. The conception is geared to the respective season motto which inspires the graphical direction. Design in ordinary of the play. What startet with the rudimental artistic emancipation, will forcefully be continued in 2009/2010: for the plays of the season “mankind be noble, helpful, just”, real, autonomous art will be shown. Art of young artists that existed before the request for theatre-artwork emerged, art that remains self-contained, that does not subordinate itself and thus generates additional value that appends further levels of meaning to the plays.
Curated by xhoch4, the artists from Germany, Amsterdam and New York submitted an artwork of their coice without knowing any title of a play. Together with Ingolstadt Theatre, xhoch4 related artworks and plays. A brave risk that succeeded. The spectrum ranges from painting, collage and photography to video stills, installations and sculpture.
